A lot of things change when a state goes international in hosting an event and the 2018 Men’s Hockey World Cup, which was organized in Odisha, paved the way for a lot of significant transformations in the state, especially in cities like Bhubaneswar, Puri, and Cuttack. One amongst those transformations were the launch of MO CYCLES in the town—it is a public bicycle sharing service initiated in Bhubaneswar. The project is managed by the Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) and the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT).
Mo Cycle, which means 'My Cycle’ was launched on 6th November 2018 just a couple of weeks ago before the start of Men’s Hockey World Cup.

The Bhubaneswar Development Authority has also painted and numbered separate lanes on the roads for an enjoyable bicycle ride experience to make cycling more convenient and safer.
Approximately 400 cycle stands have been set up across the city, and nearly 2000 cycles of Hexi, Yaana, and Yulu are currently in use.

Aiman Bashir, a Mo Cycle user, says "Mo Cycles are very affordable and easy to access and the cycles are available at most of the locations across Bhubaneswar, which makes it convenient for students like us to access it whenever we want to. Moreover, if one app isn't working, then there are alternatives too".

The Capital Region Urban Transport has even launched an app called "Mo Cycle", which shows all the nearby cycle stands near the user's location. The first 30 minutes of the ride is free of any charge, and afterwards, the chargeable amount is Rupees five for every thirty minutes.
Being easy to access and equally affordable, it has got a good response from the city dwellers. Moreover, it has made capital city youths life more comfortable and convenient. At present, the public bicycle sharing service is temporarily closed due to the spread of COVID-19.
